On the 9th of December, we commemorated International Anti-corruption Day with a number of activities. In line with the global theme, Uniting With Youth Against Corruption: Shaping Tomorrow’s Integrity, we engaged young people to lead our advocacy of the day which was Engaging Youth in the Political Process.

Radio panel on NBC – We coordinated a radio panel on NBC radio. Panel speakers were TIPNG’s Civic Engagement Lead, Ms Elizabeth Aribi, PNG Electoral Commission Civics Officer, Mr Jason Kaut, Youth Advocate and Former Legal Intern of TIPNG, Mr Nabeiu Lansana and Commonwealth Student Association Rep, Ms Vilousa Hahembe. All shared their experiences of the engagement in the national general elections and encouraged young people to register to vote in the 2027 National General Election. Roundtable dialogue – With support from the UNDP Transparency and Accountability in PNG Project, we convened a roundtable dialogue to amplify the youth voice in addressing issues that are affecting the integrity of the National General Elections in Papua New Guinea. The event also allowed the Electoral Commission of PNG (PNGEC) to provide an update on how they will engage with young people in the lead up to the 2027 National General Elections, as well as the National Youth Development Authority’s (NYDA) support to this process.
