Promoting Anti-Corruption & Integrity Strategies

project background

Papua New Guinea has struggled with issues of grand corruption, impunity, and a lack of trust in the integrity of national institutions.

At Transparency International PNG (TIPNG), we believe that when the frameworks and practices within agencies are working well, it improves the internal efficiency and strengthens public trust in the agency.

Target Stakeholders:

State Agencies & Integrity Institutions: To strengthen their capacity with regard to addressing complaints of corruption both internally and externally.

The Media: To increase the capacity of journalists and editors to conduct investigative journalism.

Civil Society: To bring together like-minded civil society organizations and private sector partners to work towards tackling corruption.

Why should agencies partner with TIPNG?

Demonstrate leadership: As national integrity institutions, we offer your organizations the opportunity to lead the national discussion on governance reforms. It is our collective responsibility to strengthen national integrity.

Support National Commitment: With the Government engaging in significant reforms as part of its national agenda, this is the opportunity to take action.

Innovate on Integrity: The National Integrity System Assessment will provide an objective assessment of integrity gaps and we will actively seek to address these with tailored strategies.

Build a Legacy of Integrity: In anticipation of the establishment of the Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC), TIPNG through a holistic approach, will work side-by-side with you to protect our people, our communities, and our nation.

Project Interventions:

The National Integrity System comprises of principle governance institutions in Papua New Guinea, that are responsible for combatting corruption.

The National Integrity System Assessment  will examine both the formal and informal framework and actual institutional practice of addressing corruption.

Based on integrity gaps identified in the NISA, we aim to partner with agencies to develop and reinforce anti-corruption strategies.

3. Anti-Corruption Summits

These summits will be a platform to host national discussions on issues affecting the prevention of corruption, impunity, and supporting citizens and journalists to seek justice.

These awards are targeted at recognizing mainstream media journalists who have successfully adapted investigative approaches to their practice.

5. Integrity Awards
(I-RATE)

These awards are targeted at recognizing national agencies that have integrated strong anti-corruption initiatives into their internal systems and processes.
