Anti-Corruption Help Desk
The Anti-Corruption Help Desk (or AnCoHD for short) is a TIPNG community service that provides free and confidential legal advice to witnesses and victims of corruption.
Examples of corruption include: bribery, extortion, blackmail, nepotism, sextortion, theft, embezzlement, misappropriation, abuse of authority etc.
What does the AnCoHD do?
1. Provides FREE legal advice and assistance on corruption complaints
The AnCoHD provides free legal advice to help you pursue your complaint. The AnCoHD also ensures that a formal complaint will be received by the law enforcement agencies for further action. We will also follow up will all referred cases until a resolution is achieved.
2. Advocacy
The AnCoHD raises awareness on the different types of corruption issues. We also advocate on the rights and responsibilities of citizens in the fight against corruption.
3. Strengthening Institutions
We work with existing state authorities in strengthening their capacities to process complaints.
Project Goal:
*NOTE: The AnCoHD does NOT investigate individual cases of corruption (AnCoHD does not gather evidence for your case).
*NOTE: The AnCoHD does NOT prosecute cases of corruption (AnCoHD does not represent clients in court).
How the AnCoHD works:
- Step 1: Clients fills the Initial Contact Form.
- Step 2: Enter in complaints register.
- Step 3: Assess the complaint (file notes, briefs, research etc.).
- Step 4: (i) Open complaint/case if corruption related.
- (ii) Reject complaint/case if not corruption related.
- Step 5: Enter complaint/client in database.
- Step 6: Enter in database registry.
- Step 7: Advise client (letter/phone).
- Step 8: Refer complaint to relevant authority.
- Step 9: Follow-up with the authority on behalf of the client if the complaint is being addressed.
- Step 10: After the referral do client feedback on how well ALAC has assisted.
- Step 11: Close complaint/case
