ExxonMobil PNG hosts TIPNG anti-corruption lunch & learn

By the invitation of ExxonMobil PNG,  Transparency International PNG (TIPNG) took part in a lunch & learn with the staff of ExxonMobil PNG on Tuesday 7th February in Port Moresby.

TIPNG was invited to speak about its work in combatting corruption as part of ExxonMobil PNG’s team refresher and to reinforce their Anti-Corruption Policy. TIPNG’s session covered its work, a closer look at corruption, and also highlighted the negative impacts of corruption, in particular on the everyday lives of our communities.

TIPNG Board Chair, Mr. Peter Aitsi, during the session said, “TIPNG’s activities are aimed at fixing the gaps in existing laws, strengthening governance procedures, and reinforcing the work of institutions in order to improve the deterrence, prevention, and prosecution of individuals involved in corrupt practices.”

TIPNG works to build effective coalitions through broad engagement with partners to build stronger alliances against corruption. The Lunch & Learn with ExxonMobil PNG management and staff is part of the coalition-building initiative.

ExxonMobil PNG has supported TIPNG as a corporate member and through participation in the Sir Anthony Siaguru Walk Against Corruption over the years. ExxonMobil PNG has also contributed to developing young Papua New Guineans through TIPNG’s Mike Manning Youth Democracy Camp.
