Wednesday 21 August 2024, Port Moresby – Transparency International Papua New Guinea (TIPNG) is delighted to announce the upcoming visit of the Global Chair of Transparency International, Mr Francois Valèrian, to Papua New Guinea. The visit, scheduled for August 22nd to the 23rd of August 2024 marks a significant milestone for TIPNG.
Elected Chair of Transparency International in 2023, Mr François Valérian has extensive experience in both public and private sectors. He has been instrumental in various committees, including chairing the Membership Accreditation Committee until 2022. His work spans from tracking illicit financial flows and political integrity to strategic litigation. François led business integrity programs at the Transparency International Secretariat and initiated anti-corruption advocacy at the G20. His professional career includes roles at BNP Paribas, Accenture, and teaching positions at CNAM and École des Mines de Paris. He is also an accomplished author and editor.
Mr Francois Valerian will be engaging with key stakeholders during the visit, including government officials, civil society partners, and business leaders.

At TIPNG, we are confident that Francois’ visit will yield fruitful discussions and collaborations that will further strengthen our work with the key government agencies responsible for the enforcement of anti-corruption laws,” said Mr Peter Aitsi, Chair of TIPNG.
Transparency International Papua New Guinea has been at the forefront of promoting good governance, accountability and integrity for two decades and the global chair’s visit serves as a validation of the work of TIPNG and its members, and a testament to their unwavering commitment to protect the integrity of PNG society.
Mr. Francois Valèrian’s visit will be a significant moment for TIPNG as it marks the second time a Global Chair of Transparency International has visited the country. The last such visit was by Mr. José Ugaz in 2017.
