The Sir Anthony Siaguru Walk Against Corruption (SASWAC) started in 2007 and is Transparency International PNG’s (TIPNG) major fundraising event. The event provide a peaceful avenue for citizens to express their opposition to corruption and raise more awareness amongst the public on the impacts of corruption and civic responsibilities.
In January 2017, TIPNG was able to purchase a property from the funds raised from the Walk Against Corruption. After conducting 11 Walks, we raised about K2 million to take our first big step to ensuring our sustainability by purchasing our office property, but we continue to raise funds for our activities.
The theme of the 2024 Sir Anthony Siaguru Walk Against Corruption is RISE TO THE OCCASION. The theme positions all Papua New Guineans as agents of change and is a call for everyone to take on the responsibility of doing what is best for the country and with a sense of urgency.
