Meet Our People

Providing governance oversight and guidance on our operations, we have a current roster of 12 volunteer national board members. With each contributing valuable insights from a variety of industries and sectors, and decades of experience in both domestic and international jurisdictions.

Our Executives

Arianne Kassman

Arianne Kassman is the Chief Executive Officer of Transparency International Papua New Guinea (TIPNG). She joined TIPNG in 2011, was appointed Executive Director in 2017, and became CEO in 2020. With more than a decade in the anti-corruption sector, Arianne leads initiatives that empower Papua New Guineans to demand integrity, accountability, and good governance, with a strong focus on youth participation and civic education. 

Arianne founded 350 PNG in 2013 and serves as a Director of Sustainable Coastlines PNG. She is also a Council Member of the Institute of National Affairs and a member of the Strategy Reference Group for the Transparency International Global Movement. 

Peter Aitsi, MBE

Peter Aitsi is currently the Executive Director at Oilimin Holdings. He has extensive private sector experience, having led several of PNG’s leading companies over a 35-year career. This is further strengthened by his long-term and ongoing involvement with important community organisations, such as Transparency International PNG, the Media Council of PNG, City Mission PNG, the Badili Club, and Leadership PNG. In 2008Mr. Aitsi was awarded an MBE for services to the PNG Media Industry. He serves as a director on the Board of the following entities: Steamships Trading Ltd, Oilmin Holdings, and is Chair of PNGFM Ltd and MiBank, and Executive Chair of the PNG Property Developer Association. , pulvinar dapibus leo.

James Lunge

James Lunge is a lawyer in the Corporate, Commercial and Projects team at Ashurst’s Port Moresby office. He regularly advises and acts for clients on some of Papua New Guinea’s most significant and complex matters, including major projects and project financing, energy and resources, technology, mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance, and capital markets transactions. In 2024, James completed a nine-month secondment with Ashurst Australia’s Projects & Energy Transition team, where he worked on major infrastructure projects in the transport and energy sectors across Australia and internationally. James’ involvement with Transparency International Papua New Guinea (TIPNG) began in 2011, when he was a member of the Youth Against Corruption Association (YACA) during high school. He is also an alumnus of the TIPNG-run Mike Manning Youth Democracy Camp. 

Shane Kennedy

Shane Kennedy is the Chief Operating Officer for Nasfund Contributors Savings and Loan Society (NCSL). He has extensive experience in professional services, taxation and finance including previously working for both a “Big 4” international accounting firm and a “Big 4” Australian bank, and one of the world’s largest gold mining companies. He has tertiary qualifications from two Australian universities and has also been involved with community organisations such as RSPCA PNG and The Badili Club. He is a firm believer in the longterm growth and development of PNG and his people. 

Our Directors

Richard Kassman, OBE

Richard Kassman is one of the founding directors of Transparency International PNG and is currently the Director for Corporate Affairs with Total Energy. He has developed a career of 40+ years in insurance & risk management, tourism, and more. recently in the petroleum sector. He has held managerial and Board roles in the private sector, State Owned Enterprises, professional bodies, and civil society organizations.  In the 2015 Pacific Games in Port Moresby, Richard served on the PNG Olympic Committee as the Chef de Mission. He was awarded the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in recognition of his services to the business sector and the community. He is currently the Director for Corporate Affairs with Total Energy. 

Michael McWalter, OL

Michael McWalter is a director of the Circum-Pacific Council, an Emeritus Member, Certified Petroleum Geologist, and Delegate-at-Large of the Asia-Pacific region of the American Association of Petroleum Geologists, Fellow and Chartered Geologist of the Geological Society of London, and a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers and the Association of International Petroleum Negotiators. Passionately concerned about the good governance of the petroleum sector and the appropriate management of its revenues by Governments, Michael is a lay member of the Finance Board of the Catholic Bishops Conference of Papua New Guinea and the Solomon Islands and a long-standing Director of the Board of TI-PNG. 

Paul Barker

Paul Barker, from the UK, came to Papua New Guinea in January 1978 and was based in the Highlands for five years with the Primary Industry Department. He headed the economics, marketing, and statistics Branch of the Primary Industry Dept until 1988, when appointed special economic sector adviser in the Prime Minister’s Dept., a post he held until mid-2004. He was technical adviser with the European Delegation in the Solomon Islands until January 2006, and later appointed Executive Director of the Institute of National Affairs, an independent policy think tank based in Port Moresby, that addresses a wide range of economic and social issues affecting the countryWith his experience as a director, Paul has chaired in various State and Civil society organizations, including the National Cultural Commission, the Higher Education Board, the Research and Conservation Foundation and Business Council of PNG, Transparency International PNG, and a member of the EITI Multi-Stakeholder Group. 

Christopher Elphick

Christopher Elphick is an Executive Director of FairPrice Furniture and Electrical, a small PNG SME business. He is a member and Director of the Nasfund Contributors Savings and Loans Society Ltd (NCSL) and currently sits on the Port Moresby Chamber of Commerce and Industry Board (POMCCI). He is an alumnus of the United World College of South East Asia holding a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Business Management from the University of Surrey, with majors in Marketing and Management. Christopher is a graduate of the National Superannuation Fund (NASFUND) Trainee Director Program and an awardee of the PNG Institute of Directors’ Young Director of the Year award. 

Mary Udu

Mary Udu holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Primary Education from Central Queensland University. She began her career in 2001 and worked at POM Grammar, Nonu Independent School, and St. Joseph’s International Catholic College. At St. Joseph’s International Catholic College, she worked as a classroom teacher and later became Deputy Principal of Curriculum for three years. During her time at St. Joseph’s International Catholic College, she went away to the University of Newcastle in New South Wales, Australia, where she attained a Master’s Degree in Educational Studies. From 2013 to 2018, Mary worked with TIPNG as the Civic Education Project Program Manager. She is now principal of Bird Wing School in Port Moresby.  

John Moore

With more than 30 years of experience working across the public, non-profit, and private sectors, John Moore currently serves as the Manager, Special Projects for ExxonMobil PNG’s (EMPNG) production operations team. John has a PhD from the Australian National University’s Department of International Relations, a Master of Arts in Law and Diplomacy from the Fletcher School at Tufts University, and a Bachelor of Arts in International Studies from the Virginia Military Institute.  He has published on issues relating to national security, development, and the political economy of conflict, and previously lectured at ANU and other institutions in the US and Australia on development and countering violent extremism.  

Stephannie Kirriwom-Sawong

Stephannie Kirriwom-Sawong is the Policy and Government Relations Manager at WWF-Pacific (PNG), bringing experience from the legal, development, and civil society sectors, including roles with Dentons PNG’s litigation team, Abt Associates and as a Policy Lawyer at the Centre for Environmental Law & Community Rights (CELCOR) Inc. She served as Secretary of the TIPNG Board from 2024 to 2025 and has contributed to the Constitution SubCommittee and the Program & Project SubCommittee. Stephannie previously served on the Board of the Kokoda Track Foundation (KTF) from 2016 to 2022. Her areas of expertise include environmental policy, government relations, legal analysis, litigation, and coalitionbuilding across national and regional networks. 

Stefan Sowei

Stefan Sowei is an infrastructure and operations professional with more than 10 years of experience delivering complex projects and supporting remote-site operations across Papua New Guinea. He is currently a Project Lead with Santos, where he manages camp infrastructure upgrade programs and works closely with a range of teams to ensure safe, practical, and effective project outcomes. Stefan holds a Bachelor of Science in Geology from the University of Papua New Guinea and an MBA (Leadership and Enterprise) from the University of Sydney. He is committed to helping Papua New Guinean professionals grow in their careers and is passionate about fostering ethical leadership, inclusive development, and stronger local capability across the industry.  

William Koregai

WilliamKoregai is currently the Head of Retail Payments at BSP Financial Group Limited and a Director on the Board of Transparency International PNG (TIPNG), where he also serves on the Membership and Services Committee. With nearly 29 years of experience in banking and finance, he has held executive roles. He holds a Master of Business Administration from Torrens University, Australia, and is an active contributor to the community, having spent two years affiliated with the PNG Netball Federation.

Bill Doa Neill

Bill Doa Neill joined the Board in 2022. His areas of expertise include corporate governance, property and asset management, stakeholder engagement, revenue integrity, and compliance, supported by professional affiliations with the PNG Institute of Directors and the PNG Olympic Committee (Marketing & Revenue Committee). Bill is the National Property Manager at Pacific Palms Property (Steamships Trading Company), overseeing a national portfolio of more than 600 leases across residential, commercial, and industrial assets, and brings extensive experience in transparent asset management, risk mitigation, and ethical commercial practice. Bill is also the President of the Badili Club, having been an active member since 2013 and previously serving on its General and Executive Committees, including as Vice President.  

 

Megan Kinowin

Megan Kinowin is a Port Moresby–based professional with proven experience in Executive Assistance, External Relations, and Stakeholder Management within the mining sector. With a particular focus on government engagement, Megan excels in fostering stakeholder connections and is actively expanding her expertise in public sector analysis, legislation, and governance. Currently pursuing a degree in Public Administration at Divine Word University, Megan brings a thoughtful and strategic approach to collaboration and communication.
