Port Moresby, Tuesday 16 June 2026 — Transparency International Papua New Guinea (TIPNG) is gearing up to host its 16th Sir Anthony Siaguru, Walk Against Corruption (SASWAC) on Sunday 21st of June 2026 at the Sir John Guise Stadium in Port Moresby. For nearly two decades, the Walk has stood as Papua New Guinea’s most visible, safe, and powerful platform for citizens to collectively voice their opposition to corruption.
“The Walk is not a protest or a rally. Rather, the SASWAC is a peaceful, structured celebration of solidarity where corporate teams, school groups, and community members bring anti-corruption advocacy to life through spirited chants, bold banners, and creative uniforms,” said TIPNG CEO, Ms. Arianne Kassman. TIPNG organizes this flagship event with three clear operational objectives:
- To raise vital funds to support TIPNG’s operational reach and protect its financial independence.
- To deepen citizens’ awareness of corruption and how to minimize corrupt practices in daily life.
- To provide a safe, peaceful platform where the public can stand together to demand national transparency.
To demonstrate that the fight against corruption requires a unified national front, TIPNG has selected three extraordinary trailblazers to lead this year’s walk, each representing a crucial sector of the community:
- Government Sector Leader – Mr. Steven Matainaho (Secretary, Department of Information and Communications Technology): A visionary public servant driving Papua New Guinea’s digital transformation. Mr. Matainaho’s leadership in modernizing government systems and enhancing public information disclosure embodies the public sector’s power to enforce transparency through institutional reform.
- Private Sector Leader – Mr. Danny Robinson (CEO, CreditBank PNG): A seasoned financial executive championing corporate governance and ethical business practice. Under his leadership, Mr. Robinson reinforces the corporate standard that commercial prosperity must be built on a foundation of clean compliance and public integrity.
- Civil Society Leader – Ms. Jacqui Joseph (CEO, Equal Playing Field): A passionate community advocate dedicated to child protection, gender equality, and youth mobilization. Ms. Joseph’s inclusion highlights the vital role of community-led organizations in building safe, respectful, and accountable spaces across PNG.
Highlighting the focus of this year’s event, Ms. Kassman noted, “This year’s theme, ‘Integrity & Action Now!’, is a direct, urgent call for every individual, business, and public official to move past words and use active integrity as a driving force to transform Papua New Guinea.” To bring this theme to life, participants are challenged to champion three key national actions on the day:
- Practice integrity everywhere by taking individual ownership and acting honestly and ethically at home, in the classroom, and across every workplace.
- Demand better from leaders by joining a unified public voice calling for public officials to halt corruption and deliver the efficient health, education, and infrastructure services citizens deserve.
- Block corruption by using ethical choices as a shield to stop the theft of public funds, ensuring national wealth goes toward national development.
TIPNG is calling on all registered groups to bring maximum energy to the stadium. To reward the creativity of participants, grand prizes will be awarded to the Best-Dressed Team and the team that displays the Most Creative Integrity Message on their mandatory team banner.
“In-kind support has already been pouring in, and we sincerely acknowledge all that we have received so far—from prize gifts and bottles of water to logistics support for security, traffic assistance, photography, tents, and so much more. We are incredibly grateful to the companies and individuals who have come on board to support the walk and this vital cause,” Ms. Kassman added.
This year’s event is set to see a massive turnout, with over 160 teams already confirmed, representing corporates and government departments, schools, SMEs, Civil Society teams, and family teams. Any organizations, community groups, and families who wish to stand up for integrity are highly encouraged to get in touch with TIPNG immediately to register their teams before deadlines close.
