Dear TIPNG Members and Partners,
As we conclude the first quarter of 2026, I am filled with immense pride in the collective strides we have taken toward a more transparent and accountable Papua New Guinea.
We welcomed donors, members, and the public during our 29th Open Office, showcasing progress across our strategic priorities. Through the Enabling Environment for Civil Society Actors (EU SEE) Project, we continue to monitor the governance landscape to ensure sustained engagement and support for civil society organizations.
Our work is made possible with strong partnerships. We are proud to have formalised key Memorandum’s of Understanding (MoU’s) in this quarter. We will continue to work with our partners as we aim to reach our targets for this year.
Building transparency and amplifying the youth voice in democratic systems is the central focus of our elections work, and we ensure that through the Youth in Elections TWG, we are equipping young people with the knowledge to make informed decisions as voters in the elections.
We passed the baton to Alumni of the Mike Manning Youth Democracy Camp (MMYDC) this year. In a change of direction for the camp, we provided the avenue for alumni to give back and provide feedback to help refine the curriculum for future participants.
It is of utmost importance, for all stakeholders to be considered in the finalisation of a robust National RTI Policy. Without transparent access to information, citizens cannot effectively hold power to account or participate in decision-making. This is what we shared at the first RTI TWG of the year.
I want to extend my sincere gratitude to our partners and stakeholders, including our dedicated financial members and donor partners, whose support fuels our mission.
Finally, I encourage you to join this movement. By becoming a member of TIPNG, you are becoming a champion for the transparency, accountability, and good governance that PNG deserves. Let us carry this momentum into Quarter 2 of 2026 with renewed courage and shared purpose.
ARIANNE KASSMAN
CEO, Transparency International PNG
