Port Moresby, Saturday 30th May 2026 – Transparency International Papua New Guinea (TIPNG) has convened its Annual General Meeting (AGM) presenting its financial statements for the year 2025.
TIPNG members, partners, and stakeholders were present at the AGM to reflect on the organization’s work, milestones, and direction moving forward.
“The year 2025 demanded that we raise our voice louder, push deeper into policy spaces, and continue to defend the democratic rights of ordinary Papua New Guineans,” said TIPNG Chairperson Peter Aitsi. Presenting TIPNG unqualified financial report, Mr Aitsi also shared highlights of TIPNG’s work in 2025. Key interventions highlighted during the AGM included co-hosting PNG’s historic first Anti-Money Laundering Conference, partnering with the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) to finalize the National Right to Information Policy, and demanding genuine civil society inclusion in the Government-CSO Partnerships Policy. To strengthen grassroots accountability, TIPNG expanded the Community Coalition Against Corruption (CCAC) network to prepare for upcoming elections, while simultaneously securing generational impact by formalizing a partnership with the National Department of Education to roll out a nationwide school civic curriculum. The organization also scaled up its engagement with young people through the Youth Against Corruption Association (YACA) and gave everyday citizens a voice by fully restoring its confidential Anti-Corruption Help Desk (AnCoHD) to operational status.
A central focus of the AGM’s agenda was the election of TIPNG’s Board leadership for the 2027. Financial members nominated and re-elected Mr. Peter Aitsi as Chair, Mr James Lunge as Secretary and Mr Shane Kennedy as Treasurer. Directors that were appointed to the board were: Ms Mary Udu, Mr Richard Kassman, Mr William Koregai, Mr Christopher Elphick, Mr Michael McWalter, Mr Paul Barker, Ms. Megan Kinnowin and Mr John Moore.
