TIPNG Welcomes Record Number of New Interns

Port Moresby, Thursday, 5 November 2026 – Transparency International Papua New Guinea (TIPNG) has commenced its 2026–2027 Internship Program in partnership with the University of Papua New Guinea (UPNG). The 13-week program started on Monday, 2 November 2026 and has an intake of nine undergraduates studying law, communication, and accounting respectively. With a total of six female and three male students, this is TIPNG’s largest cohort of interns since the partnership with UPNG began in 2017.

“With the 2027 National General Election on the horizon, this is an important time for our country and an incredible opportunity for these young professionals. By joining TIPNG today, they are not only gaining practical skills in their respective fields, but they are also learning firsthand how our organization contributes to good governance, transparency, and democracy,” said Ms. Arianne Kassman, TIPNG CEO, in a statement. The 4th cohort of the Communications Internship Program welcomes Winnianne Revit and Naomi Tikana, fourth-year students majoring in Journalism at UPNG. The Communications interns will be engaged in media and public awareness activities such as TIPNG’s Building Electoral Integrity Project (BEIP).

The 10th cohort of the Legal Internship Program welcomes four UPNG School of Law students: fourth-years Harry James and Leah Huaembukie, alongside third-years May Hasola and Margaret Simet. The Legal interns will focus on legal research, corporate governance, and supporting advocacy efforts at TIPNG.

The 3rd cohort of the Accounting Internship Program welcomes John Smith, Jehuda Moses, and Maylily Ninigi, all third-year accounting students at UPNG. The Accounting interns will assist TIPNG with tax compliance support, MYOB tasks, and audit preparation. The 13-week program will also feature guest presentations and professional development activities designed to enrich the students’ experience at TIPNG. The internship was made possible with funding through the TI Indo-Pacific Partnership for Strong, Transparent, Responsive & Open Networks for Good Governance (TI IPP STRONGG Phase II) Project for chapters of Transparency International.
